The animals mate from January to April and the gestation lasts about 61-63 days afterwards the litter appears that consists of 1-11 pups, though usually there are 6. These are pack living animals with the complex social organization. Usually they fed on moose, caribou, deer, elk, etc.

This is the largest wild canid; its fur is thick and can also vary form pure white, red or brown to black. The body length is about 100-150 cm and the tail length is 31-51 cm. The animals are 66-81 cm high and weigh about 16-60 kg; the males are usually bigger and heavier than the females.
